In November 2021, President Joe Biden nominated Kendra Davis Briggs to serve as an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She was appointed in December 2022, after the U.S. Senate confirmed her for a 15-year term on the Superior Court by unanimous voice vote and sworn in on January 17, 2023.
From 2010 until her appointment to the bench, Briggs served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, most recently serving as a senior AUSA in the Public Corruption and Civil Rights Section, where she was responsible for prosecuting civil rights offenses. Briggs also previously served as the 5th District community prosecutor.
While in law school, Briggs served as a law clerk to Justice Peggy A. Quince of the Florida Supreme Court. After law school, she served as a senior associate at Parks & Crump LLC, an associate general counsel for the Florida Department of Transportation, and as an attorney in private practice at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP before relocating to Washington, D.C. in 2008.
Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed Stenise Lanez Rolle as a judge of Prince George's County Circuit Court in Maryland. She was also sworn in on January 17, 2023.
Throughout her legal career, Rolle has worked as a litigator, an administrator of judicial education, and a magistrate. Her legal career began in 2002 at Parks & Crump, LLC, a boutique law firm in Tallahassee, Florida. She left in 2006 to form her solo practice while working as an independent contractor for Gary Roberts and Associates, LLC.
In 2010, Rolle relocated to Washington, D.C., and joined the University of Maryland as the director of Graduate Student Legal Aid in 2013. In 2018, Rolle joined the Maryland Administrative Office of the Courts as their judicial education manager, overseeing, planning, and developing all mandatory educational programming for judges and magistrates.
Before her appointment, Rolle served as the foreclosure magistrate in the Circuit Court for Prince George's County since 2019, where she worked with the foreclosure coordinating judge to adjudicate the nearly 2,000 residential and commercial foreclosure cases filed annually.
