Top 10 — In Five Areas, Miami Law LL.M. Programs Make Lists in Worldwide Rankings

The University of Miami School of Law has been selected among the top 10 schools for its real estate, international law, sports law, international arbitration, entertainment law, and legal English + LL.M. programs in 2022 on LL.M. Guide's Top Programs by Specialty.

For the second year in a row, Miami Law's Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law LL.M. was listed for Sports Law and Media/Entertainment Law, the Robert Traurig-Greenberg Traurig LL.M. in Real Property Development was listed for Real Estate Law, and the White and Case International Arbitration LL.M. was listed for Alternative Dispute Resolution. The International Law LL.M. took a top 10 spot this year for Global Law.

Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Program 

Available only at the University of Miami School of Law and taught by prominent faculty and practicing attorneys, students study the entertainment, arts, and sports law graduate degree to focus on areas of law that, in today's world, are expanding, converging, and at times, intersecting. Hands-on, practical learning teaches skills of high value which can provide the tipping point for attorneys contending for jobs in very competitive areas.

In the #1 spot in the category, the LL.M. Guide writes: "This school offers an LL.M. in Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law that is considered one of the best in America. Being based in Miami and South Florida, home to all the major professional sports franchises in baseball, football, basketball, and hockey, is a huge advantage for networking and career opportunities. 

"Miami is now recognized as a vibrant hub for all three sectors, home to divisions of entertainment companies such as Sony, HBO, Viacom, and the BBC," the guide wrote.

Real Estate Specialty

Also in the #1 spot for the category, the Real Property Development LL.M. — widely regarded as the nation's best — is designed for the law graduate or attorney who wants to acquire or expand expertise in planning, structuring, and financing real estate projects, either as a practitioner, owner, or developer.

"The program includes foundational modules in mortgage law, tax, leasing, development, transactions and environmental regulation. Alumni of the program typically working in large law firms such as DLA Piper or boutique real estate advisory firms such as Rennert Vogel. Others find work in government agencies or become entrepreneurs, developing or investing in real estate," the guide reported.

A Center for International Dispute Resolution and International Law

Joining institutions such as Stockholm University and Geneva Law School in the top 10, Miami Law's LL.M. in International Arbitration provides a unique individualized educational curriculum and opportunity for a small group of top-quality students from a range of countries wishing to acquire an in-depth grounding in the field of international arbitration as a platform for a successful career.

"The school offers an International Arbitration LL.M., which combines theoretical courses in dispute resolution topics with hands-on components. Specifically, students could take on a legal externship with the schools International Arbitration LL.M. Practicum program. The LL.M.'s curriculum addresses many topics in international arbitration, from a class on Investment Arbitration to one on Complex International Negotiations, among others. For those who wish to take a U.S. bar exam, the school also offers LL.M. students the chance to take preparatory bar exam courses," according to the guide.

"Miami School of Law offers an LL.M. Specialization in International Law that attracts both U.S. and foreign law students who wish to specialize in Latin American practice.
