Miami Law's Global Entertainment & Sports Law + Industry Conference examines topical legal, business, and social issues impacting the entertainment, arts, and sports industries. With keynote addresses from prominent attorneys and executives and panels with industry leaders, students, alumni, and attending professionals will have numerous networking opportunities throughout the conference.
The event will include discussions with South Florida sports leaders such as Eric Woolworth, president of Business Operations at the Miami Heat, and Eric Poms, CEO of Capital One Orange Bowl. Another conversation consists of a fireside chat with entertainment executive Ann Sarnoff, former chair and CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks. Thursday concludes with a plenary keynote, "The Anatomy of a Music Festival," featuring Brian Oliver, director of Legal and Business Affairs at Rolling Loud Festival, and Rolling Loud co-founders Tariq Cherif and Matt Zingler.
Friday starts with a fireside chat featuring Julie Uhrman, co-founder and president of Angel City Football Club, focused on investment in sports. Other speakers will include Kathryn D'Angelo, Adolpho Birch, and Jennifer O'Sullivan, in-house attorneys at professional sports organizations; John Ruzich, chief legal officer at Legends; Terri Jackson, executive director of the Women's National Basketball Players Association; Eric Winston, retired NFL player and chief licensing officer/head of partner development & college, OneTeam Partners, and many more industry leaders.
"Our Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Program at Miami Law brings together a community of lawyers, business executives and clients to discuss topical issue impacting these industries," said Greg Levy, director of Miami Law's Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law LL.M. program. "There is no shortage of issues to discuss whether it is AI impacting the creation of music and art to the ever-evolving area of NIL. We are lucky to be in South Florida where so much of this activity is taking place in our own backyard and can't wait to gather as a community once again to discuss, debate, grow and network."
The two-day event features industry leaders speaking on a variety of topics, including "The Entertainment Deal: Lessons from Top Executives;" "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Entertainment and Sports;" "Player Safety in Sports;" "The Anatomy of a Music Festival;" "Player Licensing and Name Image Likeness;" "Hot Topics for Sports Counsel: Stadium and Arena Development;" "The Future of the Fitness Industry; Investing in Sports; Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin's Impact on Music Copyright Law; AI's Impact on Entertainment; and Warhol v. Goldsmith: The Future of Transformative Use.
The Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31st event is presented by the student-run Entertainment and Sports Law Society and Miami Law's award-winning EASL LL.M. program and will be held at the University of Miami Shalala Student Center, 1330 Miller Drive, Coral Gables, FL 33146.
The event is open to the public with registration. The two-day conference costs $300.00 for general admission, $250.00 for Miami Law alumni, and $50.00 for non-UM students. UM faculty and students may attend at no cost.
CLE credits are pending with The Florida Bar for 13.5 general credit hours, including 1.0 Bias Elimination & 2.5 Technology. Pending Certifications include 13.5 credits in Business Litigation and 1.0 credits in International Law & International Arbitration.
