Miami Law Podcast Serves up Climate Change to Voting Rights to Indictments on Season 11

The Miami Law Explainer weekly podcast returns in August with the school's legal experts crunching headline news and scholarship.

In this season's first episode, "The Global Heat Wave," Miami Law's director of the Environmental Justice ClinicDoug Ruley, spotlights the signals of an impending climate crisis.

The popular and long-running show is informative and thought-provoking, delving into the legal world's most pressing issues today. From analyzing landmark court cases to exploring the evolving role of technology in the legal profession, the podcast is a go-to source for all things legal.

This season, Associate Dean of Intellectual Life Kunal Parker will take over some shows to interview his colleagues and discuss their research and scholarship.

"I am delighted to continue our Miami Law Explainer podcast series," said Parker. "These podcasts are a wonderful way to provide audiences an opportunity to hear legal experts discuss issues of contemporary interest as well as to showcase our wonderful faculty."

With over 47,000 downloads from listeners as far away as Brazil and Ukraine since its unveiling in 2018, the podcast has logged almost 140 episodes, including last season's top tracks, "White Men Talking," with constitutional law expert Caroline Mala Corbin discussing the fight for abortion access; and environmental and property scholar Jessica Owley sussing out the rehoming Confederate statues in "Property Rights and the Confederate Monuments."

The Explainer episodes drop weekly during the academic year. They can be heard on most podcast providers, including iTunes, Stitcher, and SoundCloud, where seasons one through eight of the Explainer are available for binging.

Subscribe to the Explainer podcast and follow the Explainer on Miami Law's Facebook and Twitter so you'll get all the episodes.
