Eighth Annual Class Action & Complex Litigation Forum

Class action litigation has been a contentious issue for decades, with both plaintiffs and defendants arguing their positions on the merits of this legal mechanism. However, recent developments have brought new challenges and opportunities to the forefront. From changes in the legal landscape to technological advancements that impact how cases are litigated, there is much to discuss about the latest developments in this area of law. The changes form the subtext for this year's annual Miami Law Class Action & Complex Litigation Forum at the University of Miami School of Law January 26, 2024.

Originally the brainchild of three leading Miami firms in trial, appellate, and class action law, Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton, Podhurst Orseck, and Harke Law LLP, this year's in-person conference brings together leaders in the legal, political, and academic spheres to educate those interested in the field on how to utilize and understand class actions.

A fireside chat will serve as the keynote address with United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida Judge M. Casey Rodgers and Judge R. David Proctor of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

“The University of Miami School of Law has attracted a wonderful group of judges, lawyers and academics to its Eighth Annual Class Action Forum,” said Harley Tropin, J.D. ’77, founding partner of Kozyak Tropin & Throckmorton. “There is no better way to learn the latest issues than to attend the forum,” he said.

Prominent judges, practitioners, and professors from around the United States – leaders in the field of mass torts, insurance, and consumer litigation – will sit on the day's panel discussions, including antitrust and artificial intelligence class action trends, and take a closer look into class action trials. There will be a special panel of judges focused on MDL/complex litigation.

The Friday, January 26, 2024, event, held at the University of Miami's Newman Alumni Center, at 6200 San Amaro Drive, Coral Gables, Florida, 33146, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., is open to the public with registration.
