Deana Falce is from Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up dancing and participating in musical theater. Wanting to find a way to incorporate these skills into her education, she decided to major in public relations at the University of Miami. While at UM for undergraduate school, Falce met lifelong mentor Jeff Bass while she was working the early-morning opening shift as a lifeguard at the Wellness Center. After an internship doing public relations for law firms, Falce realized she might be interested in a legal career.

While in law school, Falce was a Vice President of the Moot Court Board. She was also the articles editor for the International and Comparative Law Review. She participated in the Litigation Skills program where she enjoyed the privilege to argue before the Honorable Carroll Kelly. Falce very much enjoyed Miami Law’s unique and close connection to Miami’s legal community. Specifically, she is grateful for the role that practicing lawyers and sitting judges are able to play, participating as adjunct faculty to add real world practical lessons to the rigorous academic study of law.

After her 1L year, Falce began clerking for Jeff Bass (also a UM Law graduate) at Shubin and Bass, where she continued to work until just recently, when she joined Bass Law, a new firm, as Partner. She is still working alongside mentor Jeff Bass, as well as with Miami Law graduate Whitney Kouvaris and UM undergraduate alum Emily Vaughan.

Falce looks forward to becoming more involved with the law school, as her twin sons are now 8 years old. She recently participated in the Golf Tournament where she was able to play alongside Judge Carroll Kelly (who had judged her when she was a law student!). She has also helped with the Moot Court Competitions.

Falce still loves dance and musical theater, enjoying performances at the Broward Center and the Adrian Arsht Center. She also loves golfing with her husband, Christopher Falce (UM undergraduate alum) and spending time with her sons, who are ice hockey and soccer players. She wants to thank the alumni for their involvement while she was in law school, and Jeff Bass, who encouraged her to go after her dreams and become a lawyer. She loves the community of alumni and seeing ‘Canes stick together.
