Shawn Wright is from a rural area in upstate New York. He attended a small school in Boston for his undergraduate degree, double majoring in social work and business. He took a business law course and was immediately interested, which led him to consider law school. He was married in New York after undergraduate school, and he and his wife, Molly, moved together to Miami due to a generous scholarship and proximity to Wright’s relatives.

While in law school, Wright was involved with the University of Miami Law Review, first as a junior editor, then as an articles and comments editor. He also enjoyed attending football and basketball games. He enjoyed Miami Law because it was a big shift from the rural Northeastern areas that he was familiar with.

After law school, the Wrights returned to the Boston area. He was offered a job in Providence working in veteran’s law at Chisholm, Chisholm & Kilpatrick, and the firm’s great culture drew him to accept. He worked there until two years ago, when he became an independent contractor in veteran’s law. He now runs his own successful firm and enjoys the freedom that comes with that.

Wright is planning to run the Boston Marathon in April of this year. The Boston marathon bombings occurred during his first year of college, and living close to Boston, Wright and the local community were greatly impacted by the tremendous loss. He decided at that moment that if ever presented with the opportunity, he would run the Boston marathon. One way to qualify for the Boston marathon is by running for charity. He is running for the Brookline Center for Community Mental Health. This charity is relevant to him because a lot of his work helps veterans trying to obtain mental health services. Molly also runs her own practice as a mental health counselor.
