Yasin Daneshfar was born in northwest Iran, where he attended undergraduate school, then moved to Turkey. In undergraduate school he studied English with a concentration in linguistics. He considers himself a Miami native, moving directly to Miami when he came to the United States in the early 2000s. He taught at a high school in Miami-Dade County, then got an MBA with concentrations in finance and human resource management. He now lives in Broward County, practicing law at Becker & Poliakoff, where he splits his time between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
Daneshfar had always been interested in the law and found it to be intellectually challenging. He decided on Miami Law because of his love for Miami and the law school’s reputation. He considers himself a third career lawyer, so during his time in law school he focused on opportunities to gain tangible skills and experience. He simultaneously was a part of the Investor Rights and Bankruptcy clinics, a member of the Inter-American Law Review, and a Moot Court member who took part in two competitions. He also participated in Miami Law’s Zurich program, the Litigation Skills program, and clerked for Judge James Lawrence King of the Southern District of Florida.
What Daneshfar liked most about Miami Law was the diverse opportunities it offered for hands-on experiences. The law school also provided the foundation for a network of professionals, including great relationships with his professors, some of which continue to this day. Since graduating, he has served as a judge for Moot Court competitions and is looking forward to getting more involved with the Law Alumni Association. Outside of his time as a lawyer, other than the usual choices (reading, movies, and T.V shows), Daneshfar enjoys Orange Theory, playing videos games, and tinkering with retro computers. His advice to students is to be a dreamer and remember “it’s all about the journey.”
