Miriam Soler Ramos was born in Puerto Rico but considers herself also to be Cuban American as her parents immigrated from Cuba in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She moved to Miami from Puerto Rico at age four, where she has lived ever since. Soler Ramos was inspired to enter the legal field by her stepmother, whose work as a female lawyer with her own firm sparked a large interest.

Soler Ramos was a ‘Canes fan growing up and went to the University of Miami for her undergraduate and law degrees. She loves being able to call herself a “Double ‘Cane.” While at Miami Law, she was a member of the Hispanic Law Student Association. At the time, Miami Law did not yet have a chapter of the Cuban American Bar Association.  (She is proud to say that Miami Law now has a CABA chapter which she helped establish). Soler Ramos was president of CABA in 2022. Also, throughout law school Miriam was a dedicated member of the Center for Ethics and Public Service and helped spearhead the Community Health Rights Education Project.

\What stands out most to Soler Ramos about Miami Law is the sense of community and camaraderie between faculty, students, and alumni. After law school, she worked for the State Attorney’s Office, and loved her time there. Next, she moved to the Miami-Dade Ethics Commission, where she was initially an ethics prosecutor, then Deputy General Counsel. She was then Deputy City Attorney and City Attorney for the City of Coral Gables. In January of 2023, Soler Ramos left government work and joined Holland & Knight, where her practice focuses on land use, government procurement work, ethics compliance, and defense practice.

As City Attorney for Coral Gables, Soler Ramos was able to stay connected with the University of Miami and hosted many Miami Law student interns at the City Attorney’s Office. During her tenure as City Attorney, she was appointed to the Law Alumni Association Board, where she now serves as vice chair of the National Alumni Advisory Council. She has served on various panels at Miami Law and has judged Moot Court competitions.

Outside of her work as a lawyer, Soler Ramos has two children, and enjoys reading, traveling, and staying active. She loves community service and is involved in many different organizations that give back to the community. Soler Ramos and her husband have recently started enjoying boating and playing pickleball.
