Meet the Next Law Alumni Association President: Jordan A. Shaw, JD ‘14
Jordan Shaw, J.D. '14

Jordan Shaw is a Miami native who grew up in Broward County. He always wanted to be a ‘Cane and saw the University of Miami as full of opportunities. He felt that UM would be the best place for him in terms of job prospects, networking, and becoming a successful lawyer.

While at Miami Law, Shaw was an editor on the University of Miami Law Review, which taught him to write and edit critically, helped his time management, and showed him the importance of great writing. He was a Dean’s Fellow for Contracts and Elements with former Dean Patricia White and Professor Robert Rosen. Shaw was also a student liaison on the Faculty Curriculum Committee.

What stands out most to Shaw about Miami Law is the people. He met some of the most influential people he knows through the university in the form of colleagues, friends, clients, judges, and lawyers. After law school, Shaw started his own firm, Shaw Lewenz, with another UM Law grad. They had quick success. After meeting and becoming fast friends with Ed Zebersky and Todd Payne, their firms merged into Zebersky Payne Shaw Lewenz, where Shaw continues to work today. Their practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and class action litigation, and Shaw serves as chief operating officer and runs the firm’s commercial litigation practice group.

Shaw is President-Elect of the Law Alumni Association board of directors and has been involved with the organization since 2015. He encourages alumni to get involved. The Alumni Association is a great group of people and provides opportunities for alumni, young alumni, and students, and helps fundraise for the school. Shaw has collaborated with alumni across the United States, reaching out to alumni colleagues for local council or resources.

In his free time, Shaw loves to spend time with his wife, son, and Australian cattle dog, Scout, and enjoys fishing, boating, and fitness. Shaw also plays drums in an all-lawyer all-’Cane rock band called Chillable Hours.
