The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, a global nonprofit organization that helps educational institutions and advancement professionals build relationships, has awarded the University of Miami School of Law a bronze Circle of Excellence Award for its long-running podcast, the Miami Law Explainer. The awards provide inspiration for others who are working to advance education.

The legal podcast has been educating its listeners on everything from the basics of the legal system to complex legal and business issues since 2018. Season 13 will explain everything headlines — from Google to constitutional challenges addressing homelessness to the Buy Now/Pay Later industry.

Episode one opens with election expert Professor Frances Hill weighing in on the latest legal wrangling heading into the 2024 elections.

In episode two, a former attorney at the Federal Trade Commission and the antitrust division of the Department of Justice, John Newman, parses Google's antitrust troubles.

The binge-worthy show recently dropped its 162nd episode at the end of season 12 and has gained a large following over the years thanks to its informative and engaging content, with more than 54,300 downloads from listeners as far away as Japan and Germany since its launch.

"All the credit goes to our wonderful team: the golden voice of our host, Annette Hugues, the mad technical skills of our engineer and editor Christopher Alzati, and the talented and always game faculty at the School of Law," said executive producer Catharine Skipp. "The music of Ray D. Kim, graduate and adjunct at the Frost School of Music, and graphic design by Miami Law's Elizabeth Estefan bring so much polish to the effort."
