In high school, Neil Amin realized law runs the world. A business law class taught him an attorney has a place in every profession. Now, Amin works to take that space.
His journey started at the University of Maryland. Its 1,300 acres offered endless opportunities. Amin joined the moot court and mock trial clubs, eager for experience. Despite being on the lacrosse and boxing team, he always made time to study.
"Understanding the law not only explains how the 'system' and the world function, but also equips you with knowledge that prepares you for life," Amin said.
Amin then searched for a law school that matched his ambition and interests. Miami Law became the best pick for its joint taxation degree program. He says the specialized degree can make a difference everywhere.
"Whether in finance, medical malpractice, taxes, criminal law, or corporate compliance, the law provides a fundamental framework applicable to all fields, fostering success," Amin said.
The competitive joint degree program is available to Miami Law students during their second year and to students at other law schools. It lets students complete their J.D. and LL.M. simultaneously within three years.
Amin had never been on campus or visited Miami before moving to this area. Thankfully, Miami Law has quickly made him feel comfortable and at home.
"The University of Miami truly excels in meeting students halfway, if not exceeding expectations, in all areas," Amin said.
Since joining the School of Law community, Amin has interned at the Miami Dade State Attorney's Office, Racketeering Organized Crime & Narcotics Unit. Now, he is working toward completing his degrees in time for graduation, when he plans on moving to Washington, D.C., to begin his legal career.
He feels the law school has made him more than prepared.
"The school does a fantastic job of tailoring its approach to each student's needs," Amin said.
