Victoria Wilson, J.D. ’11, decided to pursue a legal career after majoring in English at the University of Florida. She combined her desire to advocate for others with her skills in analytical writing. She decided to attend Miami Law because of its strong reputation and proximity to her family in West Palm Beach, and she has lived in Miami ever since.
While at Miami Law, Wilson was a member of the University of Miami Law Review, which she found extremely helpful in her career, providing great editing skills and an eye for detail and a clean work product. It also helped her build relationships with professors. She participated in the Litigation Skills Program and an appellate clinic. Wilson graduated summa cum laude from Miami Law and had the honor of speaking before the Florida Supreme Court at the induction ceremony because of her high score on the bar exam.
After law school, Wilson began work in commercial litigation, dealing with class actions, receivership work, and appellate work. She currently is a partner at Levine Kellogg Lehman Schneider + Grossman LLP.
What stands out to Wilson about Miami Law are the relationships the school fosters. The deans and professors are dedicated to supporting students and setting them up for strong careers. Now, Wilson’s involvement with the law school is through her position with the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, to which she was appointed for a five-year term by the Florida Supreme Court. As part of that role, members of the Board give presentations for students at Miami Law on the application process and character and fitness investigations.
In her free time, Wilson participates in improv and volunteers with the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Her advice to students is to “have confidence in yourself and know that your work is valuable.”
