The University of Miami School of Law has expertise in 18 areas of study and offers students the opportunity to focus their studies. PreLaw Magazine's winter 2025 issue has once again given Miami Law high marks in various areas of study.

'A+' in International Law

Positioned at the gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, Miami's tremendous diversity makes it a laboratory for issues brought on by globalization, which allows Miami Law students to study international law in one of the most dynamic cities in the U.S.

With one of the largest number of faculty members who teach or do scholarly research in international law of any American law school, the University of Miami School of Law is renowned for its Global and International Law Program.

'A-' in Trial Advocacy

Miami Law also earned high marks in trial advocacy as moot court (ranked #10 in the nation), litigation skills, and mock trial are vital components of the law school program.

Experienced trial lawyers and judges teach the acclaimed Litigation Skills Program. Students engage in rigorous, firsthand training in practical skills for competent professional legal service. Students can also concentrate their law studies on Litigation and Dispute Resolution.

Students hone advocacy skills locally, across the U.S., and worldwide through the Charles C. Papy Moot Court Board, the Yvette Ostolaza Mock Trial Team, and the International Moot Court Program.

'A' in Estate Planning, 'A+' in Real Estate

Named a real estate and estate planning leader, Miami Law received an A in Estate Planning with the Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning Institute highlighted and an A+ in Real Estate.

The increasing complexity of income tax, wealth transfer tax, and property laws, combined with an aging population, have created a demand for attorneys with expertise in estate planning.

Miami Law offers a robust curriculum in real estate taught by faculty recognized as leaders in a field that covers land use, housing, commercial real estate, and environmental and tax implications.

'A-' in Entertainment Law

The entertainment law offerings at Miami Law prepare students to represent the full spectrum of collaborators in the entertainment industry. In addition to directors, actors, or musicians, entertainment lawyers more often advise companies that produce and distribute entertainment content, license celebrity brands, and purchase and sell companies or music catalogs.

Whether a student's interest is in entertainment, arts, or sports law, Miami Law helps them develop a solid foundation with a wide array of doctrinal and practice-based courses. They can also dive deeper with innovative "short courses" taught by leading industry practitioners, many of whom make up the unique  Entertainment, Arts, and Sports LL.M. program advisory board.
