The Miami Law & AI (MiLA) Lab is launching a groundbreaking competition and conference at the intersection of AI and legal practice. The unique gathering, Prompting Legal Solutions, will bring together law students, legal practitioners, faculty, and legal tech enthusiasts eager to explore how AI is transforming the legal landscape.
"The question isn't whether AI will transform legal practice, but how quickly you'll adapt," Or Cohen-Sasson, director of the MiLA Lab. "Practitioners and students who attend will gain knowledge and learn concrete techniques for leveraging AI to increase efficiency while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards."
The conference portion, "AI in Legal Practice," will feature expert-led panels, including AI in Legal Practice: Current Implementation and Discussing the Future of Legal Practice and a keynote with 11th Judicial Circuit of Miami-Dade County Judge Lisa Walsh.
The event will also feature interactive, hands-on workshops, demonstrations of the latest AI tools in AI development, and a networking reception. Melissa Ballesteros, regional IT technology trainer at Holland & Knight, and Aníbal Abarca, founder of Neuforce.ai, will lead the workshop Prompt Engineering in Legal Practice.
The AI Lawyering Student Competition is a groundbreaking contest where law students will showcase their ability to use AI effectively in legal problem-solving. For cash prizes, competitors will engage in real-world legal scenarios that challenge their AI and legal skills (i.e., AI lawyering skills). Experts will judge the two-phase competition and live-streamed.
Cohen-Sasson is a law and technology fellow at the School of Law, focusing on computational law, innovation policy, and intellectual property.
