Lindsey Lamchick grew up in New Jersey and was always told by friends and family that she’d “make a good lawyer.” Her uncle is an attorney who argued at the Supreme Court and won, and his career inspired Lamchick. She attended the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication at Syracuse University, one of the top communications programs in the country. She majored in journalism, knowing she wanted to attend law school after graduation.
After undergraduate school, Lamchick deferred her law school admission and worked at Bear Stearns & Co. in New York City. She then spent a year at New York Law School before transferring to Miami Law, where her then-boyfriend, now husband, Ryan Lamchick, J.D. ‘06, was also accepted. She loved the atmosphere of the University of Miami and its excellent reputation.
While at Miami Law, Lamchick was on the Dean’s List, a member of the Moot Court Board, and participated in the Litigation Skills Program. She also worked at the Public Defender’s Office through the Litigation Skills Program and at Podhurst Orseck P.A. for Robert Josefsberg. Additionally, she participated in the Children & Youth Law Clinic.
After law school, Lamchick worked at Hall, Lamb, & Hall (now The Hall Law Firm PA), a small firm. In her time there, she began a case in her first week of work and completed it two years later. She was even in the newspaper for it. She appreciates the practical experience she gained there. She then moved to Arnstein & Lehr (now Saul Ewing) and worked for the bankruptcy and foreclosure departments, where she found her love for real estate. Lamchick is a member of the New Jersey, New York and D.C. bars and was selected to be a Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2013 to 2019.
While at Arnstein & Lehr, Lamchick became pregnant with twins, and her husband went to work with his father at Lamchick Law Group. She became Of Counsel for Lamchick Law Group and decided to get her real estate license. She started her own title company a few years later, then after almost a decade at Douglas Elliman, she started her own real estate brokerage called The Edit in 2023. She says that her legal background has been critical in her success, helping her stand out in her field because she can perform multiple services for her clients.
In February of 2023, Lamchick was diagnosed with breast cancer - ER/PR+ Her2- invasive ductal carcinoma with lymph node involvement. She endured 16 rounds of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery, and a total hysterectomy, and can now happily say that she is cancer-free. She made a friend through her breast surgeon, who gave her a disco ball to bring with her to all her rounds of chemotherapy, insisting that it would bring her joy. She was correct; the disco ball helped make the best of a bad situation.
Lamchick and her friend have now taken this little disco ball idea and formed Project Disco Ball, a 501(c) (3) non-profit. Project Disco Ball took over the infusion floor, which treats over 120 patients daily at the Miami Cancer Institute (where Lamchick did her treatments) and gave them to anyone getting chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
During the holiday season the Project decorated the infusion floor, nurse stations, and patient rooms with hundreds of disco balls and festive holiday decor. The project also distributed chemo care gift bags to patients. Many brands have partnered with Project Disco Ball and promoted it in the Miami community and beyond. Lamchick and Project Disco Ball were recently featured by Inside South Florida.
Outside of her career and passion project, Lamchick loves pilates, travelling, and skiing. She took her 1000th pilates class at Tremble earlier this year. Since her diagnosis, she has taken up walking and tries to walk at least 10,000 steps every day. To make it fun, she often makes plans to spend her walking time with friends or her family.
