FIFA and the School of Law launch unique summer program

The University of Miami School of Law's joint program with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association is aimed at professionals from across the industry seeking to enhance their knowledge of international football law and advance their careers.

The inaugural edition of the International Football Law Summer Campus, in conjunction with the School of Law's Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law programs, will be held at the law school on the Coral Gables campus from June 23 to July 3, 2025, amid the 2025 FIFA World Cup.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with FIFA on this unique new joint program between FIFA and the University of Miami School of Law, through our Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law Program, which will be held during an exciting time in Miami—right in the heart of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup 2025," said associate dean Greg Levy, director of the EASL program. "There’s no more exciting place right now to study sports and entertainment law than Miami, a global hub for both industries."

The program will provide opportunities to learn about the latest legal developments, rules, and trends in global football from industry experts. The daily schedule is structured to ensure maximum engagement while allowing time for both theoretical learning and interactive sessions. The first part of the program will be dedicated to building a foundational understanding of football law. In contrast, the latter part will focus on more specialized topics, practical applications, and case studies. The schedule is designed to maximize learning, provide practical insights, and foster meaningful connections among participants, creating a rich and immersive educational experience over the two weeks.

Teaching modules will be led by experts, such as FIFA lawyers, with extensive experience handling complex sports disputes, who will share insights into Court of Arbitration for Sport arbitration processes and key cases. Additionally, seasoned international sports lawyers specializing in contracts, commercial, institutional, transfers, and regulatory matters will provide participants with practical knowledge of the global football legal landscape, covering current industry challenges and opportunities.

Ideal participants may come from various backgrounds, such as legal professionals working in the legal departments of FIFA member associations, lawyers in player unions, executives in clubs or leagues, or sports lawyers practicing in law firms. The curriculum is tailored to provide these professionals with foundational and advanced knowledge in football law, equipping them with the tools necessary to address the challenges of the ever-evolving football landscape.

The two-week course costs $2,500.00, and registration is done through the FIFA portal.
