On season 14, episode 3 of The Explainer podcast, Professor John Newman explains the antitrust suits against Live Nation Entertainment that resulted from Taylor Swift fans who were outraged at the excessive fees for the Eras Tour tickets. Newman is an expert on antitrust and competition law, with a primary focus on the economics and regulation of digital markets. He has served as deputy director of the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Competition and as a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Newman sits on the advisory boards for the American Antitrust Institute and the Institute for Consumer Antitrust Studies, is an associate editor of the Antitrust Law Journal, and was a fellow with the Thurman Arnold Project at Yale.
