Throughout his time in law school, Andrew Mascia, J.D. '25, focused on developing practical skills in business law that will seamlessly translate into his future legal career.

In his work with the School of Law's Startup Clinic, Mascia advised early-stage startups and a nonprofit on entity formation, employment law, and intellectual property matters. Mascia drafted various legal documents, researched cryptocurrency and nonprofit compliance, and assisted clients with trademark applications and consultations.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed having Andrew in the Startup Law Clinic this spring,” said clinic director and adjunct faculty Jaime Rich Vining. "His professionalism, diligence, and attention to detail will help him develop into an excellent attorney, and we wish him well as he graduates and takes the Bar exam this summer."

In his third year at Miami Law, Mascia served as a judicial intern for Judge Panayotta Augustin-Birch in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. In this role, he conducted legal research, drafted reports and recommendations adopted by the judge and later by the presiding district judges, and observed courtroom proceedings.

As a second-year student, he participated in the Investor Rights Clinic, representing underserved investors in securities arbitration claims against their brokers before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

As the Articles & Comments editor of the University of Miami Law Review, Mascia played a pivotal role in managing the publication process by working closely with the junior staff editors to ensure each article was articulated and timely. His leadership on the law review reflects his commitment to advancing legal scholarship and keen attention to detail.

Throughout his 2L and 3L years, Mascia also worked as a law clerk at The Moskowitz Law Firm, where he conducted legal research, drafted memoranda for class action lawsuits, and coordinated with co-counsel on high-stakes securities fraud litigation.

'Miami Law has prepared me to step into the real world with practical skills and a strong legal foundation," said Mascia. "Seeking out experiential learning opportunities has defined my time at Miami Law, and I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to be exposed to such a wide range of legal work."
