The University of Miami School of Law is excited to announce the Essentials of Transactional Practice Bootcamp, a one-day, immersive training and professional development experience for attorneys, in-house counsel, contract managers, legal operations professionals, and commercial litigators. The event will occur on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM at the University of Miami Lakeside Village.
The Bootcamp is designed for professionals who draft, negotiate, or advise on business transactions. The Bootcamp aims to equip participants with the skills needed to succeed in the deals, disputes, and negotiations shaping their practice. The program will feature sessions on key contracts and clauses, negotiation strategy, financial, business, and insurance literacy, and the ethical challenges lawyers face in fast-paced deal environments.
Speakers at the bootcamp will include general counsel, law firm partners, legal technology leaders, and accountants, providing a multidisciplinary perspective on transactional practice. The event is presented in partnership with the Corporate Counsel Committee of the Miami-Dade Bar Association and the Corporate Counsel Committee of The Florida Bar and is sponsored by SimpleDocs.
In addition to expert-led training, the bootcamp will offer built-in opportunities for participants to connect with seasoned attorneys, rising talent, and potential mentors. CLE credits are pending; attendees are encouraged to register now to secure their spot.
The event will also feature the Canes Contract Drafting & Negotiation Challenge for law students on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM at the University of Miami School of Law. Following its successful launch earlier this year, this one-day, high-impact competition returns to bring together 12 law student teams from across the region.
In a fast-paced, simulation-based tournament, law and business students will step into the role of junior associates to draft, negotiate, and advocate for their clients in a transactional deal, all judged by experienced practitioners from the field.
