The 50th Institute on Condominium and Cluster Development conference, co-hosted by Miami Law's Ralph E. Boyer Institute on Condominium Law and the Robert Traurig-Greenberg Traurig LL.M. in Real Property Development, will take place Thursday, October 30 & Friday, October 31, 2025, at The Diplomat, 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida 33019.
The two-day conference aims to provide updates on condominium and planned development law, focusing on current issues such as foreign regulation and immigration issues confronting associations and the impact of natural disasters on community associations. The discussions will cover various topics, including judicial decisions, legislative updates, arbitration outcomes, and recent administrative changes, particularly those following the Surfside building collapse.
A welcome and opening remarks will be delivered by Patricia Sanchez Abril, interim dean of the University of Miami School of Law, and program director William P. Sklar, J.D. ’80, of Carlton Fields.
Sklar highlighted the significance of this year's conference topics, which include legislative, judicial, and administrative updates, changing rules of compliance, and understanding direct versus derivative actions. These discussions are crucial for legal practitioners specializing in condominium and community association law.
The conference will feature panels comprising real estate lawyers, reserve funding experts, and representatives from state government, including officials from the Division of Florida Condominiums, Timeshare, and Mobile Homes, making it a comprehensive event for those involved in the field.
Tom Nealon, director of Miami Law's RPD LL.M. and an experienced adjunct, emphasized the national and international recognition of the Boyer Condo Conference. He praised it as an invaluable opportunity for professionals to stay abreast of the latest developments in condo law, a necessity due to the recent legal and legislative changes. He also highlighted the longstanding contribution of the RPD program in educating legal practitioners on a wide range of real estate and property development topics since the 1980s, drawing students from across the globe.
Thursday’s session will end with a fifty-year celebration reception.
The event will earn approved Florida Bar CLE credits; Florida Bar CLE: 18.0 general credits, including 1.0 in ethics and 1.0 in technology, and 18.0 certification credits in condominium and planned development law and real estate.
The conference is open to the public with registration. The registration fee of $695.00 covers both days of the conference. For more information, contact events@law.miami.edu.
