Jessi Tamayo named recipient of the Mary E. Doyle Award

Jessi Tamayo, director of the Externship Programs and lecturer in law at the School of Law, received the Mary E. Doyle Award at the 76th annual “Morning Spirits” & Homecoming Breakfast on Saturday, November 8th.  The award is given annually by Miami Law Women to a School of Law faculty member and is named in honor of the late Mary Doyle, who served as dean of the University of Miami School of Law from 1986 through 1994.

Before joining Miami Law, Tamayo was the associate director of the Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics and taught courses in Professional Responsibility at Fordham Law School in New York City. While at Fordham Law School, she administered colloquia, symposia, workshops, and academic events in the area of legal ethics and public interest law. In addition, Tamayo developed and presented continuing legal education ethics training to legal services organizations.

Prior to joining Fordham Law School, Tamayo was the assistant director of the Center for Ethics & Public Service at Miami  Law. There, she taught a legal ethics program providing continuing legal education training for the legal community in South Florida.
