Coming in 16th place among schools in the United States and #33 worldwide, the MS in Business Analytics program is an intensive experience that develops well-trained business analysts armed with the skills needed to master, manage and make use of big data in a business context.
The 10-month program prepares students to turn abstract data into meaningful information with which to predict consumer behavior and forecast revenue and expenses for virtually any business model and any industry sector.
“Student outcomes are our top priorities,” said Doug Lehmann, Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in Management Science. “Upon graduating, we want our students to have learned the most relevant, up-to-date skills and technology to jumpstart their careers in business analytics.”
“In addition to developing a rigorous curriculum, we also exerted a lot of hard work toward establishing the relationships necessary to create experiential learning opportunities,” said Lehmann. “We’re happy to see that our curriculum and community development efforts pay off.”
The QS rankings scored programs according to employability, alumni outcomes, value for money, thought leadership, and diversity.
Of the five areas assessed in the program’s QS ranking, Diversity was the strongest rated. More than 70% of students are international, with 26 countries represented in the classes of 2017-2019. The Program is STEM-designated which allows international students to extend their employment opportunities in the US for up to a total of 36 months.
As a testament to the programs’ QS score for Employability, 94% of students earn jobs within three months of graduation, thanks to Miami Business School’s strong reputation, alumni base, corporate network, and career services.
A large network of industry partners provides students with internships and the opportunity to work on real business problems as part of a capstone course. One industry partnership was fundamental in the recent founding of The Deloitte Institute for Research & Practice in Analytics (DIRPA), which supports a variety of program initiatives and activities such as industry seminars, enrichment workshops and mock interviews.
