Miami Herbert Business School Offers Two “Wuhan Friendship” Scholarships

Miami Herbert Business School today announced its plan to offer two partial scholarships to citizens of the city of Wuhan, China, or graduates of Wuhan-based universities, to attend Miami Herbert Business School through an initiative called “Wuhan Friendship” Scholarships.

“Given our school’s commitment to China and the over 200 students who take graduate degrees at Miami Herbert Business School each year, we wanted to honor and show our support for the citizens of Wuhan through these scholarship opportunities as it was the first city to be impacted by COVID-19.  We celebrate the end of Wuhan’s eleven-week lockdown and commend its citizens for taking prompt and strict action to limit the spread of this virus to rest of the world,” commented John Quelch, Dean of Miami Herbert Business School.

Miami Herbert Business School has had deep and long-standing relations with China both on campus and abroad. The School admits more than 200 students from China each year for its master’s programs including 10-month degrees in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, International Business and Sustainable Business, as well as its MBA program.

Each year, the School hosts a Mooncake Fastival as part of a Mid-Autumn harvest festival, which is  enjoyed by the entire university community. In response to COVID-19, Miami Herbert Business School was the first to host a January support session for Chinese students during this difficult time. Miami Herbert Business School also donated funds through the Chinese Student and Scholar Association to purchase masks for Wuhan citizens.

Natalie Song, Director of Asia-Pacific Engagement, will reach out to all applicants who qualify for this scholarship opportunity. Miami Herbert welcomes new Wuhan-based applicants to consider applying for the “Wuhan Friendship” Scholarships by emailing song@miami.edu, with a subject line of “Wuhan Friendship.”
