The School is currently one of five institutions in the United States and 197 institutions worldwide to hold this prestigious accreditation.
Miami Herbert receives EQUIS accreditation
Miami Herbert’s impact as a global higher education institution was recognized by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and awarded EQUIS accreditation. This year, the only other business school in the United States given EQUIS accreditation was the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.

John Quelch, dean of the Business School, attributed this recognition to the school's continuous efforts in fostering global mindsets.

"The mission of Miami Herbert Business School is to develop innovative ideas and principled leaders that transform global business and society,” he said. “EQUIS accreditation offers yet more proof of our faculty, staff and student’s dedication to excel in the dynamic and interconnected world of business.”

EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) accreditation recognizes business schools that are trying to make an impact beyond their domestic frontiers. Institutions with EQUIS accreditation must demonstrate not only high general quality in all dimensions of their activities, but also a high degree of internationalization.

EFMD, who runs EQUIS, is an internationally recognized accreditation body ensuring continuous improvement and quality within business schools. EFMD also acknowledges uniqueness within institutions that have a clear strategy on how they are shaping future leaders.

Rather than just looking at degree programs, the EQUIS accreditation assesses institutions as a whole. Its assessment includes looking at all the activities and sub-units of the institution, including students, faculty, research, executive education, and ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. In addition, EQUIS seeks a balance between academic quality and professional relevance provided by interaction with the corporate world.

EQUIS attaches importance to the creation of a learning environment that favors the development of students’ managerial and entrepreneurial skills and fosters their sense of global responsibility. It looks for innovation, including program design and pedagogy.

Additional Accreditation

Besides EQUIS, Miami Herbert has earned accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the world’s leading accrediting body that ensures quality and continuous improvement.

The School also has accreditation from the Education Quality Accreditation Agency (EQUAA), whose mission is to increase the academic quality of programs, institutes, careers, faculties and universities, and other educational units in Latin America and the world.
