Miami Herbert secures prestigious EQUIS reaccreditation

The University of Miami Patti and Allan Herbert Business School continues to set the standard in business education, having successfully renewed its prestigious EQUIS accreditation. This endorsement, granted by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), reaffirms the school's commitment to maintaining the highest educational standards globally. Miami Herbert is one of four business schools with EQUIS accreditation in the United States.

Ann Olazábal, interim dean of Miami Herbert, attributed this prestigious recognition to the school's dedication to achieving international standards of excellence.

"We are immensely proud to retain our EQUIS accreditation, a reflection of our commitment to the highest standards in business education,” she said. “This achievement underscores our dedication to developing well-rounded leaders and affirms our position alongside elite international business schools.”

EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System) accreditation is a mark of distinction for business schools that not only strive to impact the global business landscape but also uphold the principles of ethics, responsibility, and sustainability in all their activities. This accreditation, provided by EFMD—an independent, nonprofit, and non-governmental organization committed to elevating management education—requires institutions to not only demonstrate high general quality across all activities but also show a substantial degree of internationalization.

Rather than just rigorously reviewing degree programs, the EQUIS accreditation assesses institutions as a whole. Its assessment includes a review of all activities, financial support, and sub-units of the institution, including students, faculty, research, executive education, ethics, responsibility, and sustainability. In addition, EQUIS seeks a balance between academic quality and professional relevance provided by interaction with the corporate world.

Miami Herbert is one of three business schools in the United States that holds a “triple crown” accreditation status. Achieving triple-crown accreditation means that the school has earned accreditation from AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), EQUIS (EFMD Quality Improvement System), and AMBA (The Association of MBAs)—the three most prestigious business school accreditation organizations.
