Through a chance encounter with Toastmasters, a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking, Miami Herbert Business School Senior Lecturer Seth Levine CPA, Ed.D., decided to pursue teaching. Now, he’s been named as one of the Top 50 Best Undergraduate Business School Professors in the world by Poets&Quants for Undergrads.
With more than 1,000 nominations, this is the seventh edition of the feature by Poets&Quants for Undergrads, dedicated to highlighting undergraduate business education.
“I am honored and humbled to have been considered and nominated for this distinction. I truly relish working with our undergraduate students each day,” said Levine. “I see my role as a coach, mentor, and facilitator to encourage my students to think critically and to challenge the status quo. Accounting is the language of business, and the courses that I teach will set them up for success throughout the rest of their academic and professional careers.”
Levine has a long history with the University of Miami and has earned all his degrees at the university. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1983, his master’s in accounting in 1985, and his MBA in 1989, and then finally, he earned his Doctor of Education degree specializing in Applied Learning Sciences. As a firm believer in lifelong education, he is currently pursuing a fifth degree.
Since starting as an Adjunct lecturer with Miami Herbert in 1990, Levine has helped implement pivotal changes to the curriculum offered to students.
He helped create the Intro to Money course to help enhance students' financial literacy and knowledge of investing. He also created the Miami Herbert Florida 50 Stock Index (UMIAMIFL), to further promote the concept of publicly traded companies.
“Knowing that our students appreciate the efforts of their faculty is extremely gratifying. I am immensely proud of all my students. Many have gone on to achieve great success as entrepreneurs, accounting firm partners, and CEOs and CFOs of public and private companies.”
