A celebration of business excellence turned into a powerful moment of philanthropy as Arnaldo and Yani Bomnin, owners of Bomnin Automotive Group, announced a transformative gift to the University of Miami’s Patti and Allan Herbert Business School during a luncheon honoring their recent achievements.
The Bomnin family, with two children currently studying at the University of Miami, has established an endowed scholarship to support students from Miami-Dade County who are children of police officers, firefighters, active-duty military personnel, or veterans. Through the Herbert Endowed Scholarship Match, their generous gift was doubled—to a total of $1.2 million, honoring the selfless service of those who protect our communities and country while expanding access to business education.
“For us, success isn’t just about business—it’s about giving back,” said Arnaldo Bomnin, who immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba in 1996 and built one of the most successful automotive dealership networks in the country. “We know firsthand the power of education to transform lives, and we want to help students, especially those from families who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others, gain the opportunities they deserve.”
The scholarship will provide financial support to four students each year, ensuring they have access to a world-class business education at Miami Herbert. The Bomnins hope their generosity will inspire others to invest in the next generation of business leaders.
“We believe in leading by example,” said Yani Bomnin. “If our story can encourage other families and businesses to give, then we know we are making a real difference—not just for these students, but for the entire community.”
Miami Herbert Business School Dean Paul A. Pavlou expressed gratitude for the family’s generosity and underscored the lasting impact of their gift.
“The Bomnins’ extraordinary gift is more than a scholarship, it’s a commitment to expanding access to quality education,” Pavlou said. “At Miami Herbert, we are dedicated to empowering talented students, so they can achieve their full potential and make meaningful contributions to society.”
In addition to their philanthropic efforts, the Bomnins are exploring opportunities to create internship and career pathways within their companies for Miami Herbert students, further strengthening their ties to the university.
With their gift, the Bomnins are not only shaping the future of Miami Herbert students but also reinforcing their deep connection to the University of Miami. Their story serves as a powerful reminder that true success is measured not just by professional achievements but by the impact one makes in the lives of others.
