The main event was the 63rd Annual Alumni Breakfast and Morning Spirits celebrating class reunions at the fabulous Biltmore Hotel and Spa. Over 260 guests packed the banquet hall for a sit down meal fit for a king. At the breakfast, Dean Peragallo Montano made a special presentation to the School of Nursing & Health Studies own Major Hope Williamson, DNP’10, this year's recipient of the Alumnus of Distinction Award. Williamson described to the audience how the education she received at the SONHS is being used daily to save lives on the battlefield.
On Sunday the Homecoming weekend ended back at the SONHS. Alumni, Family, Friends and Students were invited back to the School for a tour of the M. Christine Schwartz Center for Nursing and Health Studies to showcase of our innovative Master’s and Doctoral programs, and a CEU event on Integrative Healthcare and Simulation. Todd Ambrosia, Phd, DNSc, MSN, FNP-BC, FACC, Associate Dean for the Master’s Program and Assistant Professor of Clinical coordinated the first CEU event. Ambrosia presented a discussion on the Top 10 Integrative Health Interventions that every Nurse should know. A second CEU event was presented by SONHS Associate Professor Valerie Bell, CRNA, MACP,MSN, BSN. Bell, the Director of Simulation for the Nurse Anesthesia Program, provided a fascinating demonstration on one of the advanced High Fidelity Human Patient Simulators at the School.
