BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track

The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies announces the opening of the BSN-DNP Nurse Anesthesia Track.
The DNP program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the Nurse Anesthesia specialty has also been accredited by the Council on Anesthesia (COA). The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies (UMSONHS) is the first institution of higher education in the State of Florida and one of 12 in the nation currently accredited to offer the BSN-DNP degree, Nurse Anesthesia track. The BSN-DNP degree is a terminal, practice-oriented offering devised to prepare baccalaureate-educated registered nurses to become advanced practice nurses to serve as transformational leaders within healthcare systems.

Dean Peragallo Montano states, ‘We are preparing our graduates to interact with an increasingly complex interdisciplinary healthcare environment. The BSN-DNP degree is in line with the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Future of Nursing report’s recommendation that nurses achieve higher levels of advanced education and that they be educated in new ways that better prepare them to meet the needs of the population.” The UMSONHS is now accepting applications for the program, which will enroll its first cohort of students in January 2014.
