Hundreds of family members, friends, students, colleagues and others gathered on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in North Miami to say goodbye to a beloved member of our school family, Marie Elia Chery (1954-2014), who passed away on March 4th after a brief illness. In three languages, the multicultural South Florida community joined mourners who traveled in from Haiti and other places to celebrate the many contributions to society which marked the life of humanitarian, nurse, researcher and educator Marie Chery. “Our school has lost a valuable collaborator in Haiti, our students have lost a wonderful mentor, and I have lost a fellow nurse, and a friend,” said Dean Nilda (Nena) Peragallo Montano, “The world is a better place because of Marie Chery.”
Rest in peace, Marie!
