The event, which was free of charge and open to the public, focused on the relationships between gender/sexual orientation and youth suicide, depression, and discrimination. Presentations ranged from lectures by experts on the prevention of poor health outcomes in LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) populations to local youth guest speakers, who shared their personal stories.
Providing education for the community in the area of LGBT health connects directly to El Centro’s commitment to reducing health disparities in vulnerable populations and advancing its mission to work toward the achievement of health equity.
