SONHS Simulation Hospital “Groundbreaking Ceremony”

For over 65 years, the University of Miami School of Nursing & Health Studies has been an innovator in health care education. In a pioneering move, the School will open one of the nation’s first education-based Simulation Hospital — a five-story, 41,000-square-foot facility that replicates the true flow of activities in a clinical practice and hospital.
This revolutionary facility will promote inter-professional collaborations, whereby physicians, nurses, students, and other health care professionals work in teams to improve patient safety outcomes.

The Simulation Hospital will be a destination center for simulation immersion. The entire structure is designed to replicate a functioning outpatient clinic, hospital, and home environment, allowing for treatment of patients across the life-span continuum.

The Thursday, November 12th groundbreaking ceremony for the SONHS’ Simulation Hospital was a historic moment in school history. The facility is the future of healthcare education. Through simulation, students gain confidence in their abilities and learn how to think critically and respond to an ever-changing healthcare environment.
