The School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) welcomed Wanda Montalvo, PhD, RN, the executive director of Jonas Nursing and Veterans Health Care at Columbia University School of Nursing, on February 26.
During her visit to SONHS, Dr. Montalvo, an assistant professor of nursing at Columbia, met with school leadership and program directors, and took a tour of the school’s International Academy for Clinical Simulation and Research at the Simulation Hospital.
While at SONHS, she also connected with Jonas Scholars, including 2018-2020 Jonas Scholar Gilda Pamphile, BSN ’09, CCRN, who is in the BSN-DNP program; and Jonas alumna Debbie Anglade, MSN ’10, PhD ’14, RN, LHRM, CPHQ, CCM, an assistant professor of clinical.
Dr. Montalvo participated with Pamphile in a Jonas Leadership Development Network event. During the live webcast, Dr. Montalvo led a conversation on The Future of Nursing for the Doctoral Prepared Nurse: Vision, Challenges and Opportunities, discussing the importance of mentoring nurse leaders and of measuring the impact the more than 1,200 funded Jonas Scholars to date have made throughout the United States.
