SONHS faculty member among 230 new fellows to be inducted at the AAN 2020 Virtual Policy Conference
Coral Gables, Florida (August 26, 2020) ─ The University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) congratulates Associate Professor of Clinical Cynthia Foronda PhD, RN, CNE, CHSE, ANEF on being selected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). The American Academy of Nursing announced its 2020 class of “230 distinguished nurse leaders” on August 6th.
“I feel honored to be acknowledged with so many other distinguished individuals in the profession,” said Dr. Foronda. “The American Academy of Nursing is comprised of many leaders who are change agents, and it will be wonderful to be a part of the collective to positively impact nursing and society at large.”
The American Academy of Nursing serves the public by advancing health policy and practice through the generation, synthesis, and dissemination of nursing knowledge. Academy Fellows are inducted into the organization for their extraordinary contributions to improve health locally and globally. With more than 2,700 Fellows, the Academy represents nursing’s most accomplished leaders in policy, research, administration, practice, and academia. Induction into the Academy is considered one of the nursing profession’s highest honors.
The inductees will be recognized for their significant contributions to health and health care at the Academy’s annual Transforming Health, Driving Policy Conference, taking place virtually October 29-31, 2020.
