Associate Dean Receives International Distinction
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 27, 2022) – The Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) and University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies announced that Donna S. McDermott, associate dean for simulation programs at the Simulation Hospital Advancing Research and Simulation (S.H.A.R.E.™) and associate professor of clinical, has earned the international Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator-Advanced® (CHSE-A®) credential.

McDermott submitted a portfolio that demonstrated her advanced performance as an educator in the healthcare simulation field. Her work was peer-reviewed against established standards of performance.

The comprehensive CHSE-A® credential covers educational theory, design, and delivery simulation principles, as well as leadership and demonstrated impact on the field to meet the needs of healthcare learners at all levels.

McDermott joins the ranks of 102 individuals from 13 countries who have achieved this distinction for advanced simulation knowledge and leadership. She has many hours of service with two professional simulation organizations. She works with SSH as an accreditation site reviewer and with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) as a member of the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice Committee, which provides evidence-based guidelines for best simulation practices in healthcare.
