Faculty Attend UM Provost’s Awards

The School of Nursing and Health Studies was well-represented at the University of Miami Provost’s Awards ceremony, held April 28, 2022. Four members of the SONHS faculty were honored based on recommendations from the Provost’s Awards review committee. Hosted by Jeffrey L. Duerk, executive vice president and provost for the University of Miami, the event celebrated faculty in the categories of teaching, scholarly activity, and research for the 2022-2023 academic year. A reception for all honorees and their guests took place at the Lakeside Village Expo Hall. The following SONHS faculty were among the evening’s honorees:

  • Dr. Ashley Falcon, assistant professor of clinical, was a recipient of the Excellence in Experiential Teaching Award.
     
  • Dr. Nicholas Metheny, assistant professor, received a Provost’s Research Award.
     
  • Dr. Andrew Porter, assistant professor of clinical, received a Provost’s Innovative Teaching Award.
     
  • Dr. Denise Vidot, assistant professor, was among the first recipients of the Luis Glaser Mentorship Award, selected for outstanding dedication to the student learning process and exceptional commitment to mentoring students.

Also in attendance at the event were SONHS Associate Deans Dr. Victoria Behar-Zusman, research, and Dr. Arsham Alamian, health studies
