Dr. Ortega delivered a keynote presentation to an audience of over 1,200 Mexican nursing students, focusing on the transformative role of technology and simulation in modern nursing education. His session highlighted innovative strategies to enhance clinical preparedness, strengthen patient safety, and advance competency-based learning using high-fidelity simulation, virtual reality, and emerging digital tools.

“It was an honor to engage with such an enthusiastic and forward-thinking group of future nurses,” said Dr. Ortega. “Investing in simulation and technology is essential to training a workforce ready to meet today’s global health challenges.”

Dr. Ortega’s participation strengthens UM SONHS’s longstanding commitment to advancing nursing education across the Americas and fostering international collaboration aligned with its mission as a PAHO/WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Human Resources Development and Patient Safety.
