Our tour begins at the southernmost stop and works its way north toward Government Center in Downtown Miami.
We start at the Dadeland North and South stops, which are about two minutes away from each other and serve the Dadeland area in Miami-Dade County. They are conveniently located near a host of restaurants and shops, and Dadeland Mall! Here are some major points of interest:
Dadeland Mall
A favorite among UM students, Dadeland Mall is great to walk around on weekends with friends or go out for dinner at restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory or North Italia. An obvious attraction is the grand selection of flavored cheesecakes, plus monstrous entree portions—leaving plenty for leftovers. The mall also has department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom, as well as stores like Zara, Urban Outfitters, and Apple. They recently added a brand-new AC Hotel right next door, which is a fantastic location for family visits.
Downtown Dadeland
Across the street from the mall is Downtown Dadeland, a hub with everything from Orange Theory Fitness, salons, a Publix (chicken tender subs or bust), and our ultimate favorite: Ghee Indian Kitchen. The naan (flatbread) is always fresh, hot, and delicious; the curries are incredible; and their chai is unmatched.
Dadeland Station Shopping Center
Directly off the Dadeland North Metrorail stop is the Dadeland Station Shopping Center. It is a convenient place to get all your essentials from Target, Best Buy, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and more. This is an especially popular site at the beginning of the semester when students are settling in, decorating their living spaces, and gathering school supplies. Pro tip: The Starbucks in Target offers free refills for as long as you are shopping—stay hydrated!
Next stop is South Miami—we’ll see you there. All aboard!
