Congratulations Class of 2013!

Students  from the College of Arts & Sciences were among the 900 to receive their degrees at the fall 2013 commencement ceremony on December 19 at  10 am at the BankUnited Center.

Students  from the College of Arts & Sciences were among the 900 to receive their degrees at the fall 2013 commencement ceremony on December 19 at  10 am at the BankUnited Center, located at 1245 Dauer Drive on the UM Coral Gables Campus.

The commencement speaker Pat Riley, HEAT President and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee, relayed inspiration stories from his childhood to the graduates.

Retiring faculty from the College of Arts & Sciences were also recognized at the event.

After 30 years on the faculty of Washington University and for the last 10 years as Chairman of the Department of Biology and Chemistry and Director of the Division of Biology and Biomedical Science, Luis Glaser joined the University of Miami as Executive Vice President and Provost in 1986. He retired from that position in July of 2005 and was a Professor of Biology and Special Assistant to the President until his retirement this fall.

Art and Art History Professor, William Betsch, was also recognized for his over 40 years of service with the university. Professor Betsch was a beloved member of the faculty known for lectures in Greek Art and Architecture.
