Our very own Dr. Robin Bachin, UM’s Assistant Provost for Civic and Community Engagement and the Charlton W. Tebeau Associate Professor of History, College of Arts & Sciences, has received the 2013 Community Engagement Educator Award from Florida Campus Compact.

The award honors the educator who made the most outstanding contribution toward the institutionalization of community engagement in higher education. The recipient must demonstrate extraordinary accomplishment in promoting community-based learning activities on campus; expanding awareness of engaged pedagogy and scholarship among faculty and administrators; creating mechanisms to sustain student involvement in community-based learning; and fostering community involvement and participation in university projects and programs.

In overseeing UM’s Office of Civic and Community Engagement, Dr. Bachin works to enhance University and community collaboration by engaging the University’s academic resources in the enrichment of civic and community life in local, national, and global communities.
