University of Miami College of Arts & Sciences Welcomes Foreign Students on International Exchange Program

‌Wei Li from China and Neide Nunes Rodrigues from Brazil have both been awarded a Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) grant to serve as teaching assistants in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at the University of Miami (UM) College of Arts & Sciences.

Li and Rodrigues, who are also taking courses at UM during the 2015-16 academic year, will share their language and culture with the UM community as well as inspire students to travel and study overseas. Li and Rodrigues are two of over 400 young educators from 50 countries who traveled to the United States to participate in the 2015-16 academic year; the FLTA program also helps U.S. colleges and universities prepare students for the 21st-century workforce and globalized world.

Recipients of Fulbright FLTA grants are selected by their academic and professional achievements as well as demonstrated leadership potential. The scholarships are awarded by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Since 2001, more than 4,000 Fulbright awardees have participated in the FLTA program.
