What is your favorite vacation spot? OR Where is the most interesting place you’ve visited?

The most memorable places I visited (when I had more time to travel!) was the Old City of Jerusalem in Israel. Boasted one of the oldest cities in the world, the richness of history and diverse traditions feels so incredibly palpable there!

What is your favorite movie and why?

It may be an unusual “top pick,” but Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies of all time. If I were not currently pursuing a career in the field of psychology, I would want to be a detective like Clarice Starling! I also love Anthony Hopkins!

What is your favorite hobby or thing to do on weekends?

I really feel at home near water, so often spend my weekend downtime reading on the beach, paddle boarding, or kayaking. I also love to cook and spend most Sunday’s “meal-prepping” new recipes!

What is special about the place you grew up? OR What is your favorite childhood memory?

I grew in a small town in upstate New York, surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains and neighboring lakes. I spent my weekends and playtime hiking, mountain biking, camping, or discovering “mystical gems” in the small creek that ran behind my family home. Nature was nurture for me growing up.

What is something nobody would guess about you (that you are willing to disclose!)?

I am terribly afraid of heights despite having loved roller-coaster and “thrill” rides at amusement parks growing up.

What was your first impression of UM (or SEHD) when you first started working/going to school here?

Having lived in the “concrete jungle” aka New York City before moving to Miami, I remember feeling like I had adventured onto a tropical island upon visiting UM’s campus! I was also impressed by the incredible sense of community I felt in the warm and welcoming support I received from the Department staff and faculty.
