On October 10, 2019, Mr. Joseph Zolobczuk, Executive Director for the Yes Institute presented the October Lunch and Learn topic.

The topic was "Bullying Prevention & Bias Reduction in K-12 and University Environments". The session was arranged by Dr. Gigi Gilbert, Scholar in Residence for Schools, Community and Diversity. Participants listened to a research presentation by Mr. Zolobczuk and had an opportunity to share personal experiences of bullying as it relates to gender and sexual orientation. Along with Mr. Zolobczuk was an exchange student from Fiji and Ms. Jennifer Lopez from the Yes Institute. The exchange student shared that part of his purpose for wanting to come to the states to work with the Yes Institute was to learn how to begin to have conversations in his country about gender and sexual orientation bias and suicide. The research presented showed that there is still a great deal of work to be done to reduce and prevent incidents of bullying. We must continue to create better more inclusive environments and that there is a direct correlation between the bully and the victim. Victims of bullying become bullies. Thank you to Dr. Kohn Wood for allowing us to increase our knowledge of this important topic.
