Coral Gables, FL – The University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development’s (SEHD) Sport Administration Program and LaLiga North America announced a new partnership today that will focus on educating students working towards careers in sport administration. LaLiga North America will participate in the school’s Sport Administration M.S. Ed. program playing a key role in the curriculum.

LaLiga North America will contribute unique offerings both in and out of the classroom. There will be in-class workshops focused on the globalization of sports, esteemed speakers, and developing and presenting case studies. The league will also provide mentorship and internship opportunities to support women and underrepresented minority students. LaLiga North America will offer a full week educational opportunity in Spain, when allowed, for students to visit and learn from LaLiga facilities and teams.

“We are proud to be able to contribute to the University of Miami’s renowned Sport Administration program through workshops, case studies, lectures and other academic activities,” said LaLiga North America CEO Boris Gartner. “Based right outside of one of the country’s most culturally diverse, international cities, with passionate and knowledgeable soccer fans, UM presents an opportunity to develop the next generation of sport business professionals.”

SEHD Dean, Laura Kohn Wood affirmed, “This partnership with LaLiga North America reinforces the global presence the UM Sport Administration program has established with its graduate and undergraduate programs, both on campus and online. The internship and study abroad opportunities provided by LaLiga will enable students to be exposed to the diverse environment sport offers.”

The partnership commenced with LaLiga North America Head of Partnerships Patrick Lowe’s participation in the University of Miami Global Sport Industry Conference on April 7th. The session titled, “Soccer’s Global Growth Through Regional Partnerships,” discussed best practices for both financial and value-added partnerships.
