The University of Miami School of Education and Human Development alumnus of the M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Administration program, Alexander Mas, has been promoted to Assistant Dean at the University of Miami Graduate School.

Mas credits his educational journey at the UM MSED program in Higher Education Adminstration at the School of Education and Human Development  for shaping his career trajectory.

"The M.S.Ed. program equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of higher education systems and leadership strategies, which have been invaluable in my professional growth," Mas said. His experience in the program has prepared him to take on the complexities of graduate education, with a focus on enhancing student success and institutional growth.

Dr. Carol-Anne Phekoo commended Mas as "outstanding," highlighting his integrity, leadership, and academic excellence during his time on the program.

"Alex was the best scholar and writer in his cohort, a leading light to his peers. I’m incredibly proud of him," Dr. Phekoo said.

In his new role as Assistant Dean, Mas will continue to apply his expertise in academic affairs, policy updates, and graduate student support, ensuring the Graduate School remains a pillar of excellence at UM.

Mas holds both a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) in Higher Education Administration (2016) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) (2010) from the University of Miami. He previously served as Associate Director of Programs at the Graduate School and as Assistant Director of Graduate Student Experience at Miami Herbert Business School, where he gained extensive experience in academic affairs and student engagement.
