In celebration of the University of Miami’s centennial, the School of Education and Human Development will host a Teacher Shortage Summit on January 25, 2025. This event will bring together educators, community leaders, and partners from institutions across South Florida to address the critical issue of teacher shortages. Keynote speaker Dean Carole G. Basile, from Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, will share her insights on reimagining the education workforce, drawing from her extensive work in community engagement and innovative educational practices. The event will also feature roundtable discussions aimed at developing actionable strategies for strengthening the teaching profession.
This collaborative summit, held in partnership with the FIU School of Education and Human Development, Miami Dade College School of Education, and the South Florida Education Consortium, embodies UM’s dedication to fostering impactful solutions for education. The Teacher Shortage Summit not only reflects on a century of educational progress but also sets the stage for a future focused on addressing pressing challenges in education.
