Douglas J. Cuomo World Premiere at Carnegie Hall

UM Frost alumnus Douglas J. Cuomo premieres new work at Carnegie Hall's Znkel Hall on December 3, 2010
American Composers Orchestra has commissioned the world premiere of Douglas J. Cuomo's Black Diamond Express Train to Hell, to be performed at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall on Friday, December 3rd at 7:30 pm. Cuomo is an alumnus of the Frost School of Music. Featured along with the orchestra are cellist Maya Beiser and Cuomo (on sampler) as soloists. George Manahan is the Music Director and Conductor.

The work a fantasia based on a fantastic 1927 recording of a sermon by African-American preacher A. W. Nix, which was sampled and then transformed into a vocal part that interacts with both the cello and orchestra.
