Other residency activities in February include a new-music reading session for mixed ensemble with Cleveland Orchestra musicians led by Cleveland Orchestra Assistant Conductor Brett Mitchell. New works composed by Frost students will receive a reading, and two of the compositions will be selected to be performed in March at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) North Miami. A side-by-side chamber music coaching session for string, wind, brass, and percussion ensembles will take place at the Frost School on Friday, February 21.
In March, The Cleveland Orchestra and the Frost School of Music perform a program titled Music at MOCA with chamber music selections by J.S. Bach, Bartók, Taffanel, Lutoslawski, and the world premieres of two works by Frost composition students. Music at MOCA will take place on Thursday, March 20 at 8:00 p.m. Admission is $20. Tickets can be purchased at www.mocanomi.org or by calling the museum at 305-893-6211.
