Associate Dean Serona Elton of the Frost School of Music was recently invited to speak at a music industry conference in China.

The conference was a two-day event, with the first day being the 6th Music Industry Forum at the Communications University of China (CUC) in Beijing. The second day was the first ever Music Creates Future International Forum of Cross Border Talent and Industrial Prosperity, hosted by the CUC and Tsinghua University. Dean Elton spoke about Global Information Standards in the Music Industry. In 2015, she was invited to speak at the 2nd Music Industry Forum, where she was a keynote speaker, and discussed the topic of music industry education. The Music Industry Forum is an important annual event in China’s music industry, which includes the presentation of an annual report of Chinese music consumption. The total size of China's music industry last year exceeded 370 billion yuan ($53 billion at today's rates). Two alumni of the Music Business and Entertainment Industries program in the Frost School of Music, Lily (Yuan) Cao, and Hua Tong, who currently work in China, also attended the conference.
